Our Products | Regional & National Sales

Our soil amendment products are high in organic matter, great for improving soil moisture retention and boosting nutrient levels and soil quality.

The Davenport Compost Facility accepts and recycles yard, garden, and tree trimmings from Davenport, Bettendorf, and surrounding Scott County communities. These materials are processed to create environmentally safe and beneficial composted soil amendments and mulches that are available for purchase locally, regionally, and nationally.

Yard trimmings and biosolids are converted using a high-technology aerated static pile composting system. High temperatures, greater than 1450, are reached during the composting process. This destroys weed seeds and pathogenic, or disease-causing, organisms. The finished product is a premium quality compost product, high in nutrients soil and plants need.

What is Compost?

Compost is a dark crumbly humus like material high in organic matter and is the result of controlled biological  decomposition of organic materials such as grass, leaves, and biosolids (treated sewage sludge).  While compost may resemble soil, it is used to improve the soil not replace it.

Why Use Compost?

High quality soils are the foundation for all successful turf , gardens and landscapes. Compost is a natural and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical applications and reduces the need for frequent watering.

Adding compost to your soil generally improves the health of everything you grow by increasing available nutrients.  In addition, when incorporated into soils, compost increases organic matter and helps soils retain more water. In fact, adding organic content, can help breakdown clay in heavy soils.
