Adult Soccer League

Davenport Parks and Recreation offers a variety of recreation programs throughout the year. Each year we issue a Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer Recreation Guide with seasonal events, activities and classes for the entire family. You can browse and download our current online Recreation Guide for more details about the current season's offerings as well as information about hosting a special gathering in our outdoor and indoor spaces.  You can see a  full list of current season offerings and register online as well.

Get Out And Trail (GOAT)

Bike, hike, walk, or roll; it doesn't matter how, just Get Out And Trail!

Explore QC trails with family and friends! Travel the trails on both sides of the Mississippi and drop by hosted GOAT Stops for refreshments and activities. This is a pet-friendly event, so we encourage you to bring your pets (leashed) out on the trails too! No registration required.

SCARY Movies in the Park (18+)

Adults' Night Out for FREE Movies in the Park! Grab your lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic to enjoy a family-friendly evening under the stars. Food sales and free activities will begin at 6:00 p.m.; movie begins at sunset. No registration required. 

MOVIE: Friday, the 13th

In the event of rain, the event will be canceled. Cancellations will be made by 3:00 p.m., the day of the movie. Please continue to check our website and Facebook for updates.

Junior Theatre: The Skokie Detective Charter School

Mainstage Production of THE SKOKIE DETECTIVE CHARTER SCHOOL
At the Skokie Detective Charter School, all the students are detectives-in-training, learning firsthand how to follow the facts and find a logical solution. But these future super sleuths are about to encounter their biggest case yet when students start acting strangely, monsters are spotted in the hallway, and their teacher goes missing! These Tiny Private Eyes reconstruct the day’s events through four classic storytelling perspectives (film noir, young adult mystery, Edwardian romance, and Spaghetti Western) to solve the mystery in this clever and fast-paced comedy.

Halloween Hike

Want to spend some spooky time out in nature? Learn where some of our autumnal stories and traditions began as you wander the restored prairies of Sunderbruch park, celebrating the harvest time and the change of seasons. Meet at the giant sunflowers. Enjoy the wooded trails and FitCore Extreme Outdoor Fitness course afterwards.
Closed toed shoes are highly recommended.

Fejervary Holiday Lights Show

Join us for seasonal holiday lights display at Fejervary Learning Center! This year's show will be BIGGER and BRIGHTER than ever before! Shows last approximately 15 minutes with a new show starting every 30 minutes beginning at 5:00 p.m.; the last show starts at 9:30 p.m. This is a park and watch event, not a drive or walk-through event. Location: Fejervary Learning Center | 1800 West 12th Street

Dates: 11/25/23 - 01/07/24

Time: 5:00 p.m. -9:30 p.m. (last show begins at 9:30 p.m.)

Directions: Enter on West 12th Street and follow the directional signs. Attendees may park at the listed locations. Accessible parking is labeled and located directly across from the learning center. Exit by following the loop around the west side of the learning center.

Radio broadcast: Tune-in to  FM 107.5 to sync with the holiday lights music broadcast.

Warning: This show may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.


 

 

Vander Veer Poinsettia & Lights

The annual holiday spectacular featuring countless poinsettias (and Paintsettias!), a multitude of lights, and extended Saturday evening hours. The Great Poinsettia Give-Away is January 13-14, 2024! 

Beginning Saturday, 11/25 through Sunday, 01/14 (closed Mondays) | Self-guided tour through park and Conservatory.

Normal Operating Hours: Tuesday-Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Closed on Mondays)
Special Extended Evening Hours: Saturdays, 11/25, 12/2, 12/9 and 12/16 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Early Closures: Sundays, 12/24 and 12/31 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Admission:
Admission is free. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Vander Veer Botanical Park itself, is open daily from sunrise until one half-hour after sunset. Vehicle entrances are off Central Park Avenue.

 

 

 

Letters to the North Pole

'Tis the Season! Your favorite Parks and Recreation department is working with the Big Guy (AKA Santa) and his helpers this season! Santa's helpers are hard at work helping him get ready for Christmas Eve night, but they want to hear from YOU! Kids of all ages can drop off Letters to the North Pole at 3 Davenport Parks and Recreation locations. In the week leading up to Christmas, keep an eye on your mailbox for a response from one of Santa's helpers!

Junior Theatre: Finding Nemo Jr.

Mainstage Production of FINDING NEMO JR

Disney’s Finding Nemo JR. is a musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.

Adaptive & Inclusive

Adaptive and Inclusive programs provide recreation opportunities for person with special needs, including those with physical, mental or emotional disabilities.  Persons with special needs are encouraged to participate in any of the programs offered by Davenport Parks and Recreation. These programs are offered in structured, success-oriented environments in areas of sports & fitness, arts, independent living skills, social activities and special events. Registration is required for participation and class size is limited to assure quality instruction.

Learn to Swim: Aquatics Program

Davenport Parks and Recreation offers American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Classes. For every level of Learn-to-Swim, our instructors follow a plan to introduce new swimming and water safety skills and build on previously learned skills. Each class is loaded with fun, engaging and challenging activities that motivate children to want to perform and learn to swim.

Spring & Summer Camps

Davenport Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of camps for youth of all ages and interests. Davenport Junior Theatre hosts a series of performing arts camps in the spring and summer. In addition, we have Adventure Camps which run 7:30am to 5:30pm all summer long providing out-of-school time supervision in an interactive, fun atmosphere that includes games, activities and field trips.

Family and wellness classes strive to encourage the community to reach their health and wellness goals, through a variety of programming for the mind, body, and spirit.

Vital to a healthy community, the Performing Arts develop imagination, physical technique and social skills for all. Sports Leagues

Playing sports is an excellent way to have fun! But did you know that sports also have many other benefits? Physical benefits such as staying in shape and maintaining a healthy body image. Social benefits including spending time with friends and making new ones. Personal benefits like stress relief, increasing self discipline and learning healthy habits. Every different sport has something new to teach us.

Sports leagues are aimed at youth and adults interested in recreational play that is fun and competitive. Registration is on a per team basis with a team manager being the main point of contact. Sports offered include soccer (indoor and outdoor), Volleyball, Softball, and Bags!

Youth Sports

Davenport Parks and Recreation Youth Sports is a recreational sports program run voluntarily by parents and other community members, provides a quality program that is open to all boys and girls, Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade, in the Quad Cities. It is geared toward the player, with emphasis on teaching the rules and fundamentals of the game. We strive to encourage growth through learning, stress sportsmanship and the importance of being part of a team.

Learn to Skate: Ice Skating Program

The River’s Edge Learn to Skate program offers a variety of classes for people of all ages seeking to learn a new sport. Our eight-week seasonal sessions run year-round. We offer beginner snowplow, basic skills, free skate, hockey, and adult classes at an affordable price. Group lessons take place on Monday mornings, Thursday evenings, or Saturday mornings. Students register to attend only one day each week but can register for both days if you’d wish to receive more instruction time. All of our instructors are Safe Sport certified and professionally accredited through Learn to Skate USA.

Nature and Garden provide environmental friendly programming from toddlers to senior citizens to create environmental stewardship through active participation in a sustainable way through nature and garden experiences through our Davenport parks and natural areas.

LEARN AT RED HAWK LEARNING CENTER

Red Hawk is a 9-hole golf course and offers programs for golfers from all ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and skills levels. Minimum age for play on 18-hole and 9-hole courses is anyone of school age. 9-hole rates are available for play for anyone at any time. Red Hawk Golf Course and Learning Center is also a First Tee Quad Cities site. Learn more about the First Tee program by visiting firstteequadcities.org

EXPAND YOUR SKILLS AT DUCK CREEK

Duck Creek is a beautiful 18-hole golf course popular with all skill levels and is 5,759 yards long and plays to a par of 70. Minimum age for play on 18-hole and 9-hole courses is 8 years old. 9-hole rates on weekends in the afternoon.

Emeis Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole, 6,500 yard course that plays to a par of 72. Minimum age for play on 18-hole and 9-hole courses is 8 years old. 9-hole rates on weekends in the afternoon. New for 2022 at Emeis, First Tee will begin offering youth lessons this Spring!
