October 19, 2021 – The City of Davenport's Finance Department recently received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The City has received the award for 27 consecutive years.
According to the GFOA, the purpose of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award program is to “encourage and assist local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting.” The award reflects the commitment of the City’s Finance Department and its staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
The City met the nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation that included representing the budget document as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, performance evaluation tool, and a strategic plan.
The Finance Department would like to recognize the Mayor and City Council for establishing sound financial and budgeting policies that have been affirmed by the bond rating agencies as well as all City of Davenport departments for contributing in significant ways to help achieve this award.
