Be Prepared Davenport

Where it can rain, it can flood.  As a city positioned along the banks of the Mississippi River and nearly 100 miles of streambank, flooding is a reality. The good news is this: we're resilient. And, we're ready.

This page is designed to provide you with timely and relevant information about the current flood status in our community and the resources you need to prepare and stay safe.

City Planning

The city’s Public Works department has a full team of skilled employees who are dedicated to prepare for potential flooding. This includes ensuring all flood risk reduction measures are in proper working order (temporary walls, pumps, et al.) and continually evaluating new flood mitigation measures and systems.

The Public Works department works closely with the city’s Floodplain Managers to help property owner’s with their own flood risk reduction measures.
