What to Know - October 6 Cycle

October 5, 2021 – Together the City of Davenport and Nahant Marsh Education Center are seeking a Resolution of support from City Council as they submit an application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant program for the enhancement and construction of the Nahant Marsh Education Center area. Nahant Marsh has launched a $3.7 million capital campaign that will allow the organization to expand educational programming and increase access via scholarships, purchase and restore additional land adjacent to the preserve, and develop a trail network that will provide for new recreational and educational opportunities for the community.

The City Finance Committee is established under Iowa Code 384.13 and is granted authority to promulgate rules relating to the procedures of transferring money between funds. Chapter 2 of Section 545 of the Iowa Administrative Code states that all transfers of money between funds found in the City budget forms must be approved by Council with a fund transfer Resolution. This is one of the finals steps to closing out the financial reporting for the previous fiscal year.

The Transit Division is looking to replace three buses that are nearing the end of their useful life. Council will consider approving the purchase of three new buses from Gillig of Livermore, California utilizing the State of Iowa bid. This will ensure that the City can provide efficient and safe public transportation for Davenport citizens and visitors.
