Better Roads Davenport

Change is happening. Bear with us!

Street and sewer improvements can lead to inevitable slowdowns and traffic reroutes. We ask that you keep your eye on the prize: a city with enhanced livability that can support existing business infrastructure as well as attract new companies. It’s a short-term hassle with long-term payoffs.

As always, safety is our number one priority. Staying calm and following construction zone signage will help us achieve that.

As we work to modernize the sewer and street infrastructure to support growth and a vibrant future for our community, remember: there are better roads ahead, Davenport!

Park Access Impacted by Construction

  • 06.27.25 | Work on the West Loop Trail is moving around the bend from Emeis to Locust. Watch for intermittent construction equipment entering and leaving Locust, as well as lane reductions, as the contractor constructs the new multi-use trail along Locust.
  • 04.04.25 | Use this link for information on the closures of the Riverfront Walk and Riverfront Recreational Trail near the Main Street Landing Project.

  • 04.04.25 | Beginning Monday, April 7, the Iowa DOT will begin bridge rehabilitation work on the Harrison St Bridge over Duck Creek.  Work will start with the installation of a temporary connection to the Duck Creek Recreational Trail.  The Duck Creek Recreational Trail will then be closed under the bridge, and will be rerouted across Harrison St with the use of a temporary pedestrian signal.  Rehabilitation work will reduce travel to two lanes between W 35th and W 32nd Streets. The Iowa DOT estimates work will be complete in November.

  • 08.13.25 | Primarily involving excavation and underground work, this summer’s rain events have caused schedule delays on the Duck Creek Sewer Interceptor project adjacent to and along the Duck Creek Recreational Trail. Weather permitting, the section of the trail between Hickory Grove Road and Fairmount is expected to reopen in the first week of September. The section west of Fairmount is estimated to reopen by the first week of October. While construction and weather can be inconvenient, we encourage our trail users to hang in there. Once complete, this 5-mile, $16.25 M, ARPA-funded project will have a lasting impact on the future of our community.

  • 03.17.25 | Watch for updates this fall when the remaining phase of the Goose Creek Connector Trail and Veterans Memorial Parkway Connector Trail are complete.
