A snowplow clears off a street after a storm

Davenport Public Works Director Nicole Gleason said the City has plenty of salt ahead of winter and advised people to sign up for advisories of snow emergencies.

She reminded City Council that people must move vehicles from posted snow routes during a snow emergency. Also, that snow must be shoveled from sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of a snow accumulating event.

Thanks to the mild winter, the city has plenty of salt on hand headed into the oncoming snow season.

"We are hoping we don't have much (snow)," Gleason told aldermen, "but we have plenty of salt." Residents can sign up at  Weather alert signups for phone, text or email alerts of snow emergencies.
