In a late afternoon briefing, Davenport Police Chief Paul Sikorski surrounded by Mayor Klipsch and City Council members addressed the media regarding the recent uptick in shots fired incidents and the response from law enforcement. Here is his message to the community.
The Davenport Police Department is aggressively taking action to address the recent uptick in shots fired incidents. These are not acceptable. We are devoted to keeping Davenport safe!
We remind all Davenport residents that all of these recent incidents were “target specific” and not random acts.
Investigators continue to aggressively follow leads in these incidents.
We have re-allocated resources-including patrol, NETS, traffic and Criminal Investigation Division officers assigned in a uniformed capacity and plain clothes-as a quick response force-specifically to deter gun violence and arrest those responsible.
