We are in for another interesting night this week. Our friends at the National Weather Service tell us we may see around five inches of snowfall between 8 PM Thu Apr 16 and 6 AM Fri Apr 17. Snow could be heavy at times and travel conditions slushy and slick overnight.
Crews will be dispatched for snow removal on Posted Snow Routes as needed. If you don’t have to go out overnight, please stay home.
Please park off-street on Posted Snow Routes so plows can clear curb-to-curb. If plows cannot clear to the curb, localized water ponding is possible due to rapid melting. Consider clearing your catch basin of snow to help melting snow drain from the street.

Roads are slick! Snow came down quickly early this morning and should end by 7 am Thu Feb 13. Temperatures will only drop from here, reaching -15 degrees by 10 am. Give yourself a little extra time for the morning commute and dress in layers.
Crews are clearing Posted Snow Routes at this time. In between periods of snow last night, teams did make a pass with salt on residential hills and some roads before returning to Posted Snow Routes.
Crews will make a pass on residential roads with salt after Posted Snow Routes are clear later this morning. Plowing will not occur on residential streets due to the temperature. Salt applications on residential roads will promote melting on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with sun and warmer temperatures in the forecast. Expect slick road conditions on residential streets until melting can occur this weekend.

The current National Weather Service forecast indicates the area will receive around 3 inches of snow beginning around 1pm, tomorrow, Wed Feb 12, and last through Thu morning. The afternoon commute tomorrow could be slick!
Because of some uncertainty in snowfall totals, the City will wait until the forecast firms up tomorrow morning before deciding on whether to call a Snow Emergency or not.
Remember - a City “snow emergency” is not a weather report or travel advisory. It’s a notice to NOT PARK on posted snow routes. Not only do parked cars present safety hazards but they hinder efficient plowing operations, and even a few inches of snow can trap parked cars. No one wants that.

Yesterday’s forecast has changed. Snow may taper off this morning and be followed by rain and warm temps and then another minor chance for snow. Stay tuned for updates later this morning for the status on clearing activities, where our plows will be, as well as the current Snow Emergency.

The National Weather Service forecast indicates we could see another three inches of snow through Saturday. A Snow Emergency is being Declared based on current and predicted conditions. The Snow Emergency will be in effect beginning at 8p tonight, Thu Jan 23 through 4p Sat Jan 25.
Parking on Posted Snow Routes is prohibited when a Snow Emergency is in effect. With over 1,200 tickets being issued during the last two snow emergencies, city staff will be increasing enforcement, expect towing to occur in addition to a ticket. Residents and visitors to the Downtown are encouraged to park in the city’s ramps for free to avoid a ticket. Parking will be free in the city’s ramps beginning at 3p today, Thu Jan 23 through 8a Mon Jan 27.
The current snow event will taper off for a short period before another round of snow arrives later tonight. Snow is expected to taper off again late Fri. Snow remains possible through Sat afternoon.
Due to accumulations, a Downtown pickup of snow and Downtown/Hilltop Campus Snow Emergency is also scheduled to begin Sun Jan 26 at 9p through Mon Jan 27 at 6a.
When not on Posted Snow Routes, crews will be making a pass on residential roads with a plow and salt today. Warming temperatures and salt today should help with melting of current snowpack.

Crews are clearing Posted Snow Routes. Snow may end temporarily by mid-day before picking back up later this evening, Thu Jan 23. Up to three additional inches of snow is possible through Fri night.
Some melting, prior snowpack, and new snow will keep side streets a little slick in the short-term. Be aware and take it slow.

It has been a mixed bag of weather the past day. According to the National Weather Service, one-half to one inch of snow remains possible through later this evening.
After treating Posted Snow Routes and making a pass with salt on residential roads today, crews have returned focus to Posted Snow Routes and arriving snow.
Salt and pavement temperatures are keeping things from freezing; however, there is potential for refreezing overnight, especially on less-traveled roads, sidewalks, and bridge decks. Crews will continue response as needed.

Did you know salt brine can only be applied as pre-treatment when snow is not preceded by rain because rain washes brine treatments away? Public Works uses salt brine whenever the opportunity exists because it is a useful tool in early melting, lessens snow’s ability to bond with the pavement, and reduces overall salt use.

Around three inches of snow is expected to fall starting later this evening, Sunday, November 10th. Based on predicted conditions, a Snow Emergency has been declared effective 10 pm Sunday, November 10th through 10 pm Monday, November 11th.
Please be reminded Parking on Posted Snow Routes is prohibited when a Snow Emergency is in effect. Visitors to the downtown may park for free in any one of the city’s three parking ramps beginning at 5 pm Sunday, November 10th through 7 am Tuesday, November 12th.
Slick conditions are possible during the overnight and early morning hours. Take it slow when there is ice and snow.
Crews are prepared to respond when snow arrives.

Public Works crews have finished clearing posted snow routes and will be spot clearing residential roads through the afternoon. Slick spots are possible due to refreezing overnight. Less traveled roads, sidewalks and parking lots are most susceptible.

Public Works crews were called in early this morning to begin response to this event. Up to an additional 1.5 inches of snow is expected to fall through Noon, most arriving between 9 am and Noon.
Plowing and salting efforts will be focused on maintaining Posted Snow Routes until after snow ends and routes are clear.

Signs that winter is on the way are showing up this fall. Our second snowfall of the season could bring around 3 to 5 inches of snow to the area beginning later today.
A Snow Emergency has been declared due to predicted conditions. The Snow Emergency will be in effect from 7pm Wed Oct 30 through 7pm Thu Oct 31.
The possibility of snow and a rain snow mix are possible after noon today with the bulk of snow expected to fall between 6pm Wed Oct 30 and 6am Thu Oct 31. There is also a potential for snow to linger through tomorrow’s lunch hour.
Vehicles parked on Posted Snow Routes during a Snow Emergency may be ticketed and towed. As an alternative to on-street parking in the Downtown, residents and visitors to the area may park for free in any the city’s parking ramps beginning at 5pm today, Wed Oct 30 through 7am Fri Nov 1.
Accumulating snow from this event will impact travel later this evening and Thursday morning. Give yourself a little extra time, increase your following distance and drive with caution if you are out late this evening into Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service forecast indicates the area is expected to receive snow between 9PM tonight, Mon Oct 28 and 4AM tomorrow, Tue Oct 29. Less than an inch of snow is expected.
Snow is not expected to accumulate on roadways, but may accumulate on bridge decks and grassy surfaces.
More snow is expected to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
Now is a good time to begin practicing for winter driving. Take it slow and increase your following distance when there is ice and snow.
