(November 7, 2024) The Davenport Fire Department is excited to introduce a life-saving resource that is now available to all Davenport residents.
The File of Life is a medical history card stored in a magnetized pouch that gives first responders access to a patient’s medical history in the event of an emergency. The form includes information about a patient’s allergies, medications, contact persons, and more. The File of Life should be stored on the refrigerator for quick access.
“The File of Life communicates critical, life-saving information when the patient cannot,” said Lt. Zach Soliz, Davenport Fire Department. “First responders will know to look for it on medical calls, speeding up treatment to the patient.”
People who are at an increased risk for a medical emergency, such as seniors or those with special needs, are encouraged to maintain a File of Life.
The File of Life card and pouch are available at no cost to all Davenport residents. To request one, submit your information into this
request form.
LISTEN NOW: Lt. Zach Soliz also talked about the "File of Life" on an episode of the Davenport Pulse podcast with host Allie McWilliams, Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Davenport.
