(December 4, 2024) The Davenport Police Department shared new statistics showing incidents of violent crime are down in Davenport. Davenport Police Chief Jeffery Bladel shared the updated statistics with the media during a briefing on December 4, 2024. The year end numbers and five year trends show the work of the department in collaboration with community partners to prevent crime and get guns off the streets of Davenport.
"The improvements highlight the strength of collaboration, fueled by prevention efforts in partnership with various community organizations, intervention strategies developed through close cooperation between law enforcement and community partners, and essential enforcement actions carried out by a skilled and dedicated team,” said Chief Bladel. “While enforcement remains a crucial tool in addressing crime, there is great pride in the innovative approaches and sustained effectiveness shown by our strategic approach to violent crime reduction."
Key Statistics:
• Shots Fired: Over the past five years, shots fired incidents have decreased by 66.7%. Compared to last year, shots fired incidents have decreased by 26.6%, with 88 incidents reported in 2024, down from 120 in 2023 and 265 in 2020.
• Non-Fatal Gunshot Victims: There has been a 44.1% reduction in non-fatal gunshot victims from last year, with 19 victims in 2024, down from 34 in 2023.
• Stolen Vehicles: The number of stolen vehicle incidents has decreased by 36.4%, with 288 reported cases in 2024 compared to 453 in 2023. (*Stolen Vehicle Statistics from January 1 to October 31 of each year.)
